Conflict Mediation

Helen facilitates workplace mediations with a focus on restoring productive working relationships.

The Mediation Process

The mediation process typically involves meeting individually with each party to better understand the underlying concerns, workplace dynamics, and barriers to resolution. Multiple meetings may be required before parties are brought together for a joint discussion.

Where appropriate, organizational or systemic workplace issues may also be identified and addressed in advance of joint meetings, including concerns relating to role clarity, reporting structures or workplace expectations.

Joint mediation sessions are conducted in a structured manner, including the use of separate breakout discussions where helpful. While the original conflict may be discussed, the focus of joint mediation sessions is on establishing practical expectations and workplace strategies for the working relationship moving forward. These agreements between the parties provide the parties and employers with a framework to support ongoing management of the workplace relationship.

Where appropriate, follow-up meetings may also be conducted several months after the mediation to assess how the workplace relationship is progressing and whether additional support or clarification may be helpful.

Moving Forward

The employer and the parties benefit from a written framework to support the ongoing workplace relationship and support from Helen, as necessary.
